| The tamarisk
tree has long been a symbol of hospitality, dating back to
Biblical times in the land of Israel. It is a tree that thrives
in the desert, growing strong and protecting travelers with
its pleasant, cooling shade. According to Biblical lore, Abraham
planted a tamarisk tree upon his arrival in Beersheva. Today,
the tamarisk is frequently planted throughout Israel, sprouting
up in parks along the boulevards of its coastal cities.
Consistent with its quest to enrich the quality of life for
older adults and their families, the Jewish Seniors Agency
has chosen Tamarisk as the name of its unique assisted living
residence. It is in the spirit of this desert tree that Tamarisk
will rise on our land as a symbol of hospitality, making all
who come here feel welcomed, comforted and protected.
