Recently, students in grades 2-5 from the Alperin Schecter Day School in Providence presented parts of the Haggadah for Passover to residents of Tamarisk – the JSA sponsored Assisted Living Residence in Warwick.

Students explained the special meaning of the Hagaddah and sang traditional songs such as Dayeinu, Chad Gadya, Lshanah Haba'ah B'yerushalayim.  They also sang Mah Nishtanah (The four questions) in a new tune.

The program started off the singing Hinei Mah Tov in an Israeli tune. This song means: How good it is, and how pleasant, when we dwell together in unity. Members of the audience were
touched by the moving preformance, reminding them of their experiences surrounding holidays when they were young.

It was obvious by the expressions on faces around the room, crossing generational lines – that all were delighted to see traditions carried on by the hearts and the minds of our future.
